About the talk: Tigers, Trees & Billions
My research looks at Kailadevi Wildlife Sanctuary in Rajasthan, a lesser‑known forest next to Ranthambhore ( Soon to be Ranthambhore 2.0). For years, it was seen as “degraded” and expendable. But when we studied it closely, a different story emerged. This forest stores water, protects soil, regulates climate, supports livelihoods, and even creates space for tigers to return—all while supporting nearby communities. When we added up these benefits, the value ran into tens of thousands of crores annually. These benefits don’t appear in budgets, bank accounts, or GDP—but we all depend on them, every single day.
